Just back from Italy. Courses went well though we did have to get there by train due to volcano!
Now begins 19 days of expeditions and residential experience for primary group!

Expeditions, training, expeditions, Italy!
This week is a mixture of expeditions, Gold training, expeditions and then off to Italy to run inservice courses on ‘taking learning outdoors’ until May 30th.
Mountain biking routes around the Highland estates whilst supervising young people is great, however wish the weather would warm up for both them AND us!!
Two more practice expeds then onto assessed ones.
Italy – as ever a real pleasure to be there and run courses.
Tallinn/Denmark
Week Ahead
Just back from Tallinn and EEE in Denmark. Fabulous conference with great people. Now three back to back Dornoch camping expeditions for D of E, before prep for Italian course. Hope weather stays good.
Estonia postponed….
As we thought, flights cancelled so rescheduling of training days at Tallinn University. However our flight to Denmark for conference is from Tallinn so trying to rebook or we’ll lose that flight too!
Who would have bargained for a volcano?????
Training, BSES and expeditions
Training atDornoch, BSES talks in Moray and two back to back expeditions from Dornoch. Well done ‘expeditioners’ as freezing night temperatures meant ice on tents in morning!!
Looking forward to more training this week at Dornoch, but were HOPING to go to Estonia on Thursday to work with Tallinn Uni, but volcano ash might change this….
Summer Term
Next week sees the start of a busy summer season – D of E work at Dornoch, BSES talks in Moray and supervising/assessing two expeditions.
All before we get to Estonia where we are working at Tallinn University for a week with students on ‘outdoor learning’. Thankfully that is followed by the EEE conference in Denmark – great to catch up with the EEE crowd again and hopefully pick up some new ideas too!
Thereafter, one expedition after the other….until….Italian course!

Easter break
No formal appointments until April 12th, but very busy preparing materials on outdoor learning for Tallinn University conference and seminars. Not enough hours in the day!
As of April D of E kicks off big style with around 100 young people to get out on expeditions, from Bronze to Gold level.

Great weekend of intensive, but fun Gold training in Cairngorms.
