Thoroughly enjoyed our outdoor in-service day.  It pulled together many aspects of learning and gave everyone a lot of confidence in delivering education outdoors.  Following the day everyone was refreshed with new ideas.

Having the opportunity to take part in the 3 week expedition to Spain in 2015 has fully allowed me to appreciate all the skills, experiences and knowledge which I gained from the trip. From working closely as a team to overcome struggles during the 50 mile Gold Duke of Edinburgh hike, and having the unique experience of volunteering at an animal rescue centre (which has now helped me get into my veterinary nursing course), and working closely with the wildlife in the South of Spain during conservation work, to also getting the chance to meet local citizens struggling to live with only few basic human needs, has all allowed me to develop into a more considerate and confident individual. I now want to ensure that I always take the chance to undertake opportunities when I am young so that I can develop further and appreciate the world we live in.

My experiences in, and on the lead up to the Spain trip has benefits I am still reaping today. I learned how to participate and be a proactive member in a group, a skill which is essential in the working world. Being surrounded by a landscape much different to my own, and being taught about the dangers of climate change in Almería really sparked up an interest in these topics, which is why I have chosen to study Geography at university. Ally and Irene were always professional and it was a pleasure to be led by them.

A truly unforgettable experience!

I can safely say the Spain trip was one of the most exciting experiences of my life. I had the best time learning about Spain's culture and learned a lot about myself during the Duke of Edinburgh hike which provided me with some of the best views I have seen in my life! Ally and Irene were great leaders on the trip and I can guarantee all future trips they plan will be great.

Ally & Irene are two people I admire. I went to Belize with them last summer for a month.

Both of them really helped push me out of my comfort zone through the DofE hike, camping and reflecting back on the trip.

I learned a lot through my experiences with them and their advice and knowledge kept up my confidence.

I did not have a dull moment and would definitely recommend working alongside them. It is an experience I will never forget.

Thank you Ally & Irene!

Belize expedition 2014

AdventuraScotland are incredible. Two fascinating people who put 100% in to every aspect of their work. I had the privilege to go to Belize for a month in 2013 with my school and with their knowledge and support, they made the trip a once in a life time experience! You learn so much without even knowing it. Their techniques are fun and engaging. I also carried out my gold residential with them and it was fantastic, so much fun yet learning along the way. I recommend Irene and Ally with the highest of praises! It would be a privilege to work with them again!

Taking Learning Outdoors in Schilpario, Italy is the single-most inspiring, challenging and motivational CPD course I have been on. I was outside my comfort zone – travelling to Italy on my own to meet up with strangers and spend a week in the mountains – but I found new friends; new knowledge and understanding; new strength and new courage.

Ally and Irene organised a wide range of activities which challenged and inspired us all in different ways and I have returned to my school full of enthusiasm and ideas to make Outdoor Learning a central and integral part of our school’s curriculum. Their enthusiasm has rubbed off!

The hosts at the Refugio; Giovani and Gabriella; are very fun, warm and welcoming and provide excellent home-cooked food and comfortable accommodation. The Refugio is set in the most stunningly beautiful location – even in the rain!

All of this was topped off with brief passing visits to the fascinating city of Bergamo which is now on my ‘hit list’ for a longer stay. Wonderful!

The TLO course in Schilpario was a wonderful learning experience. It made me understand more deeply what I am asking of my pupils when I challenge them to try new things, the importance of breaking down new concepts into small, manageable steps and remided me how much fun you can have when learning outdoors with people you like and trust.

It was a real confidence boost for me, helping me to feel happier about my teaching, my beliefs in the importance of taking children outdoors and giving me new skills to improve my practice. All this in a beautiful setting with very friendly hosts, good food and great company. I would recommend this course to anyone keen to spend more time outside with their class.'

TLO course was a great experience and turned out to be much more than just about "taking learning outdoors". During this course I understood something new about myself and this knowledge will help me improve myself as a teacher as well as a person. I would warmly recommend this course to any teacher.

The week in Schilpario with our great group, Ally and Irene, Giovanni and Gabriella was a once in a lifetime opportunity!

I came to Italy to get more methods to use in experiential outdoor education and I did get more! I did get  very intense experiences of being a member of our small group, great scenes of Italian countryside and different ways in learning.

Reflections after the week makes the experiences even more valuable. Partly I find my understanding of experience based learning changed, partly the week in Italy has strengthened my practical theory.

The week has  changed my point of view to the experiental learning! The week in Schilpario will be a very valuable mirror in reflecting the experiences now and in the future!

I recommend everybody interested in experience based learning to take part in this course!
